As a result of the advances in power semiconductor devices, microcontrollers and microelectronics the Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) inverters are becoming more and more popular in today’s motor drives. In this research project studied, simulated and implemented, the control of an AC motor for a wheelchair application using the latest technology of microprocessors, digital electronics and power devices.
Our approach was to program and apply a smooth control strategy for this machine. The control of wheelchair was made possible by hand, leg and in future work by voice recognition to present appropriate solution for different types of disability, which lead to up-to-date research plan and benefits of application. The system is also applicable to different types of electric traction like electrical driven cars.
